[Bass House/G-House:] Chris Lorenzo & Taiki Nulight – Never Say Never (feat. Dread MC)

[Bass House/G-House:] Never Say Never (feat. Dread MC) – Taiki Nulight & Chris Lorenzo

Never Say Never is a power packed bass house hit

They say never say never, they say never say never

Can’t control me, can’t control, cannot say nothing to me
I’m just free to do whatever,
They say never say never

In preparing for my upcoming review on Taiki Nulight’s “Murky Manor” I stumbled across he and fellow label mate Chris Lorenzo’s “Never Say Never” featuring Dread MC.

Released as part of the Night Bass series from their label head, AC Slater, the track is a power packed hit.

This is because from start to finish, the energy is strong with this one. Starting off with the vocals and a simple, steady rhythm, vocals They say never say never, a mysterious synth begins in the background before bass comes cascading down after the first verse. By then your head is already bobbing and your feet already shuffling.

The grimy bass line, telling us to never say never is incredibly catchy and satisfying

This is dirty bass-house at it’s core, with maybe a slight touch of UK Garage. The grimy bass line is accentuated by the male and female vocals telling us to “never say never.” It’s incredibly catchy and at a satisfying six minutes, doesn’t leave you wishing there was more or thinking it’s too short.

Three minutes in, a breakdown occurs letting the dancefloor catch it’s breath before quickly picking back up with a boom, “cack” rhythm. This is for dancefloors, underground house clubs and fans of bass.

[Future House:] Rachel Costanzo – Comfortable (Jyye Remix)

[Future House:] Comfortable (Jyye Remix) – Rachel Costanzo

Australian based DJ, Jyye, delivers an uplifting remix of Rachel Costanzo’s “Comfortable.” Channeling future house vibes, bass lines and great vocals is a deep floor-filler with a depth of sound that is nicely realized, as much of the music featured on Selected.’s YouTube channel is.

This song certainly “keeps it comfortable” settling with a comfy sound and BPM perfect for house lounges and late night set sessions.

[Big Room/Dance:] EDX – We Can’t Give Up

[Big Room House/Dance:] We Can’t Give Up – EDX

We Can’t Give Up (Official Music Video)

EDX Performing “We Can’t Give Up” at Imagine Music Festival 2018

Girl, you’re something special,
And you know I want you,
You’ve been on my mind all the time,
and you know, that we can’t give up

This one’s a little late, but as I was clearing media off of my phone I realized I never uploaded many videos of EDX’s show at Imagine Music Festival. I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t highlight this great track, “We Can’t Give Up.”

Swiss DJ, EDX is known to delve into the more melodic and big-room style of dance music that is very emotionally moving, soothing and self-contemplative. This track is no different. Not taking itself incredibly serious and not a high energy banger, this song is more soothing to the soul and one you dance carefree to, swaying to the beat or shuffling on time. It’s important to have artists that stick to this style of music in an era where others are always looking for the “hardest” song or drop.

Each style has a time and place and this song is a great cool down track or addition to a more downtempo set. Look below for more music from EDX and links to his profiles.

[Dance House:] Galantis – Emoji

[Dance House:] Emoji – Galantis

Swedish EDM duo Galantis’ newest song “Emoji” is a very welcome affair to the EDM world. Beginning with very soft, yet sultry vocals reminiscent of ones oft used by fellow House DJ, Kaskade, the beat picks up into energetic, fun, light-hearted sound. A nice change of pace from the high energy drops so often the go to’s at modern EDM shows and festivals.

Oooohhhh weeee / Send me an emoji, lemme know how you feel croons the female vocalist. Accentuated by light piano chords and a light rhythm, the song certainly makes a perfect “wind-down” number for house DJs.

The music video, directed by Dano Cerny is a cute visualization of a member of the duo spending time alone at his house with an emoji/heart. The ending is really sweet and the video goes well with a fun little tune like this one.

Learn more about Galantis on their Facebook, and hear more music from them on Spotify.

[Big Room/House:] Showtek – Booyah (feat. We Are Loud & Sonny Wilson) [Breathe Carolina Remix]

[Big Room/High Energy House:] Booyah (ft. We Are Loud & Sonny Wilson) [Breathe Carolina Remix]

One of the most classic high energy EDM tunes “Booyah” gets a remix from Breathe Carolina. The Denver based electronic music duo has certainly been on the rise as of late releasing numerous singles and remixes. Their remix of “Booyah” leaves in the high energy bass and drops, combined with reggae vocals, but adds a little more feel-good energy and a breezy vibe reminiscent of enjoying shoreline waves on a beautiful beach.

The signature drop from the original was changed up a bit, but the remix as a whole is still very enjoyable and very much a club/festival banger. The outro has a very nice dance/house sound that will transition well into other similar BPM tracks.

Listen to more of Breathe Carolina on their Soundcloud.

[Dance/Bass-House:] BROHUG – In My Hand

[Dance/Bass-House:] In My Hand – BROHUG

BROHUG does it yet again with their latest track, “In My Hand,” a satisfying blend of Disco house like vocals with their signature bass house sound.

The DJ trio seems to almost come up with unique ways to present their tunes and even drops that sounds the same still come across completely different. Not an easy accomplishment. BROHUG songs always energize, are face-melting or just plain raw in the best possible ways.

[Dance/Tech House:] Kaskade – Tight (feat. Madge)

[Dance/House:] Tight (feat. Madge) – Kaskade

In the club all night, see the end of the light
And you’re gonna do it right, if you keep it real
Keep it tight

American DJ legend and House producer Kaskade has had a very good year. Doing plenty of tours and appearing at festivals all across the nation, the past few years have definitely been Kaskade’s best for him.

“Tight” featuring songstress Madge conveys the efforts and progress Kaskade has made as an artist. The dance-house tune, with tech-house influences, is reminiscent of old-school Kaskade with soft, sultry vocals but the “drop” and bouncy sounds of this track are definitely “new-school” Kaskade.

At this point, whether an artist is good or validated when they return to, reference or completely abandon their original sound is a debate old as time. Some artists are lauded for never changing, some become bigger than they ever could’ve been before in changing up their sound, and yet others try to straddle a fine line between these two spectrums.

Check out the music video for Kaskade’s “Tight” above, directed by Will Kindrick and produced by Utah-born, but now in L.A. band “Sego.”
