[Indie Hip-Hop/Rap] Karma Knot – Came Up
[Indie Hip-Hop/Rap] Karma Knot – Came Up
[Throwback Post]
[Independent Hip-Hop:] The U-Express (feat. Defcon) – 9th Wonder
Got some real hip-hop for ya hip-hop heads. This throwback comes from my earlier days (circa 2007-2010) when I was still a much bigger rap head. I had good friends who were plugged into some life-changing rap music from artists such as 9th Wonder, Chaundon, Murs, Little Brother, Cam’Ron, The Alchemist and more. Music from these guys and from that era will live with me for the rest of my life. Not simply because it is real hip-hop, without all the bling, gimmicks, etc. But this is music that will always bring me back to those days several years ago, and anytime I listen to it I feel…uplifted.
Take some time and rewind with this very chill, independent hip-hop number, fresh from my nostalgic mind.
Rapper NAV collaborates with hit producer Metro Boomin’ in “Perfect Timing.”
[Hip-Hop/Rap:] NAV & Metro Boomin’ – Perfect Timing
Perfect Timing – NAV & Metro Boomin’
By now you’ve probably heard NAV’s music. Whether you realized it or not the rapper has made quite a name for himself in 2017. Featured on the hit Travis Scott single “Beibs in the Trap” NAV has seen his media coverage balloon with the help of friends like The Weeknd and Kylie Jenner. Canadian-born, the Punjabi MC has been making waves throughout the year and has also been featured on more and more tracks, while also releasing mixtapes and an album. Don’t miss out on his collaboration with Metro Boomin’ in “Perfect Timing.”
NAV’s arguably most popular song “Myself”
Atlanta’s Key! and Two-9’s Ceej bring us “Yukon” collaborating with the Outta Pocket Boyz
[Atlanta Hip-Hop/Rap:]
Key! – Yukon (feat. Omari Shakir) [Prod. Su$h Ceej & Moe Hundreds)
I can’t help myself I’m in love with your hoe,
Can’t help myself I’m in love with your hoe
I don’t want no heart I just wanna throat
I ran in the money, I’m lettin’ it go
In love with the money #relationshipgoals
Coming from Atlanta hip-hop producer and rapper Key! is “Yukon,” featuring Omari Shakir. With a catchy hook, and solid beat (produced by Ceej of ATL’s Two-9 collective) and Moe Hundreds, the collaboration with the Outta Pocket Boyz “Yukon” bangs, and just has an overall, different feel that is quite refreshing to hear in today’s rap game.
Omari Shakir brings some Future-like flair to the track singing undeniably addicting croons that have that lazy Sunday, street feel that makes this a perfectly great rap track; one that isn’t necessarily trying to be some tough, gangster number. Instead the song both goes hard and doesn’t take itself too too seriously, it’s simply fun. Key! and Su$h Ceej plan to release an album titled FRVR on February 9th, 2017. You can check out more on their Soundcloud pages.
Shoutouts from North Atlanta!
Today’s throwback track is the L.A. Leaker’s cut “Pull Up” ft. Kid Ink, Sage the Gemini & Iamsu!
[Throwback Track:]
[Kid Ink:]
I know, I know you been waitin’ all night (it’s all right)
I know what you wanna get full of (I’m bout to pull up)
Pull up, I’m bout to pull up…[Iamsu!:]
Goin’ in, more bars than a lifer
Send a text, bet she pull up like a diaper
Hyper, active, ballin’ no practice
Smokin’ on sherbert, we don’t smoke cactus
Our throwback tune for the day is the L.A. Leaker’s “Pull Up” featuring Kid Ink, Sage the Gemini and Iamsu!. This 2015 rap track has a highly danceable and energetic beat and was used in many 2015 Vines in conjunction with dances like “The Whip.” Kid Ink’s chorus is pretty damn catchy and well I’d be damned if Iamsu! didn’t just deliver the best verse I’ve ever heard from him. Definitely miles over what he and Sage “showcased” in “Gas Pedal” do yourself a favor and check this song out! Also check out trap EDM producer Salva’s remix of Sage the Gemini and Iamsu!’s “Gas Pedal.”
Check out this new Atlanta rap banger, “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick” by Sahbabii feat. Loso Loaded
Atlanta Rap
Pull Up Wit Ah Stick (feat. Loso Loaded) – Sahbabii
Pull up wit ah stick, let it hit
Pull up wit ah stick, let it hitBitch I’m with the mob, you can’t get in
we commit a sin for our niggas in the bin
After hearing this song playing at a local hookah bar in Buckhead, Atlanta after work one night I had to download it. Shoutout the DJ at Sahara Lounge that was playing this a few nights ago! “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick” is a trap banger full of Atlanta swag and “Datway!!” mentality. For those not in the ATL, that means it bangs and is totally a song you should blast in the whip with the windows down (especially on warm days here in the South).
Featuring Loso Loaded this rather underground track from Sahbabii is almost guaranteed to blow up once more people hear it. Oh yes, I would be remiss if I also failed to mention I have heard Atlanta’s Streetz 94.5 (my FM station of choice) playing this late at night. Here’s to a whole new movement of Atlanta rap, one that will hopefully take our city Dat way!! as we prepare to face the New England Patriots in the upcoming Super Bowl! (RISE UP FALCONS)
Check out the music video for 2 Chainz “Good Drank” featuring Gucci Mane & Quavo of the Migos.
[Atlanta Hip-Hop/Rap:]
Good Drank (feat. Gucci Mane & Quavo of the Migos) – 2 Chainz
2 Chainz smash-hit song, “Good Drank” gets a music video. Opting for a more “old-school” vintage look the song successfully combines elements of the past with the style and flair inherent in 2016-2017 rap. The song itself has been tearing up charts and radio waves across the country, especially in Atlanta.
Featuring none-other-than Gucci 1017 & Quavo of the Migos the track unfolds over a soothing, catchy piano chord and trap snares. Only these three Atlanta rappers could create something with this much uniqueness, and still keep it “street,” with elements of a slow jam, lyrics characteristic of a party rap song and flows smooth as ice. Can’t forget Quavo’s incredible chorus either.
