Twofold shows us what post-dubstep music should sound like, more akin to its Drum ‘N Bass, Dance (almost techno if you will) roots and less bass-centered “wub wub” music (as Borderlands 2 so amusingly put it) on their EP “The Second Phase”.
I bought their EP on Beatport.com after hearing the first single “Skyfire.” Always a fan of vocal dance music this song, struck a chord with me, no pun intended. Also on the EP, “Goliathus” and “Violet” are stand out tracks making Twofold a definite artist to look out for in dance clubs. The final track “Sector 14” goes back to the mainstream dubstep sound, or almost a Heavy Drum ‘N Bass track centered around a “noisy” buildup, climax and breakdown. Nevertheless, for the price, this is a great EP for any EDM fan and for DJs, two of the tracks are already at the mix-friendly 140 BPM. Check ’em out for yourself!
