Got some excellent deep house from Chicago native John Summit to share today. First up is his recent release “Human” with backup from Echoes giving strong progressive house with touches of uplifting trance.
Second up is his amazing tech-house number, “Make Me Feel”. Personally, I actually really seem to like the Radio Edit of “Make Me Feel”, it seems to be the only one that repeats the leadup to the hook more than once. Check them both out below:

Tchami & Habstrakt drop a deep house banger titled “Eternity” with smooth vocal treatment from Lena Leon.

Check out this collaboration between Tchami and Habstrakt full of deep house flavor and a steady pumping beat. The vocals receive treatment from Lena Leon and the resulting in quite the captivating number. You can stream “Eternity” here.

Bishu – “Hurt Me Too (feat. McCall)”
Opening with Bishu’s “Hurt Me Too” this excellent Monstercat label release is the perfect blend of melodic drum ‘n bass.
Ghastly never ceases to amaze me. His sheer variety of styles are always refreshing, and “Every Night” is no exception. This quite intriguing blend of bass, house and lounge music is available copyright free from the Dim Mak label.
Internet Money – “Blast Off (feat. Juice Wrld & Trippie Redd)
What more is there to say. It’s Trippie Redd and the late great Juice Wrld.
Droeloe – “Collisions”
I haven’t heard much from Droeloe that I don’t like. I’ll admit I only recently discovered them but their music not only challenges my brain in thinking what exactly, EDM “is”, but I often forget “what exactly was I doing” as I get lost in many of their tracks. Droeloe collabs are also very fire.
Smiley – Over the Top (feat. Drake)
A Different Way and its remixes, DJ Snake, Lauv
Originally from an exclusive DJ Snake livestream this timeless bop with incredible vocals from Lauv has gotten some solid remix treatment and a future house remake from Nalestar.
Another take on the classic.
Seb Wiggins – Waiting for the Answer
“Waiting for the Answer” has got some excellent vocals and marvelous progression from it’s very light intro evolving into a more progressive house vibe.
Hotboii & Future – “Nobody Special”
Still bangs, no doubt.
DJ Snake – “Middle”
Another one for times when you need something a bit more downtempo, “The Middle” from DJ Snake’s 2016 album “Encore” is perfect for sunset viewing, life reminiscing, and pool lounging.
Without listening to the whole album it’s easy to assume gems like this weren’t among far more mainstream tracks like “Ocho Cinco.” They do say don’t judge a book by its cover.
Jake Robertz – Time (Protostar Remix) [ft. Teasha Huns]
Talk about some melodic drum ‘n bass, you know I’m here for it. Protostar’s remix of Jake Robertz “Time” with vocals from Teasha Huns has been on repeat all week.
The buildup between drops is just too great with Huns lush vocals, “I just wanna spend my time with you / I’m feelin’ everything you do” before I’m head bobbing, almost banging to the pure DnB drop.
Animadrop – Nobody Like Me
I have to be thankful to Youtube Music for actually showing me Animadrop. He clearly puts a ton of thought into his work and the interplay between levels, fields of sound within his songs.
He also often makes “making of” videos great for producers. “Nobody Like Me” feels wonderful to ride in the whip with, bass blaring as you declare “ain’t nobody like me.”
Phlegmatic Dogs – High Volume
THIS should be played at high volume…preferably. Hey, he said it not me.
Animadrop’s Aethra is the embodiment of both old era and new wave trance.

Carry me off to the sky…
Animadrop brings all the feels with this absolutely uplifting embodiment of trance “Aethra”. Multiple trance synth filled drops, hypnotizing vocals and an overall air of transcending time abound. This 2019 cut feels like it easily could’ve released in the 2010s era of industrial trance music capturing and updating the allure, and power of the genre.

Dutch producer Inova employs a slick range of sounds in “Cruelty” spanning darker, heavier music, and enervating, uplifting melodies. The EP as a whole continues the intriguing gravitas of Inova’s music, and while it sticks well within the confines of drum & bass and future house, it does it well.
The seven track EP is a pretty solid ride, sticking to generally fast BPMs throughout. There is a mood present that conveys something deep, heavy on the horizon of great importance. “Cruelty” shines in the varied ways it delivers this message and the subsequent feels.
Take the intro track named after the EP itself. Opening with beautiful violins and bells, it builds up an atmosphere of massive energy. The choral chanting adds to this as twinkling chords give way to a massive drop.
Echoing chants continue going into Brave accented by bursts of thunder and a very addictive hook and drop. My personal favorite, Burst, is full of high energy drops and streams of futuristic synths.
One of the most interesting cuts, Lift Me Up, breaks away from the sort of darker moods and sound and flips them upside down. This is the album’s bright and bouncy track, with a speedy drum & bass drop, soothing vocals and relaxing shamisen-sounding chords.
There are moments where the songs seem to blend. Both “Grime” and “Paradise” came off to me as a bit generic, with “Paradise” being the better of the two. “Cruelty” closes out with “Dedication” which gets back to a more dance centric space, but still with heavy atmosphere and some very nice vocal chops.
Cruelty is a great listen for fans of Inova and future house/bass music with some great “pump-up” tunes, that also feel worthwhile and moving.
Two legends, DROELOE and San Holo create a masterpiece with “Lines of the Broken (Ft. Cut_)

Didn’t watch your step and you fell right in, Feeling like it’s you who’s been chosen
When San Holo & DROELOE, two major forces in their own right, together create something epic and magical. “Lines of the Broken” with vocal blessings from Cut_ perfectly balances the soft, dreamy vocals with powerful drops and bass, accented by starry twinkling plucking synths *chefs kiss.
