[Reggaeton:] Darell, El Alfa – PAKATA & [Bass House:] Skrillex, J Balvin – In Da Getto (Remixes)

It’s Latin hour on this post. Throw back a few cervezas, or even some tequila, and let loose.

For this track I have to give a couple shoutouts. First off, to my parents, as apparently when I was young, I was babysat by Hispanic babysitters. I have a feeling its why most of my life, I have always been particular to Latino culture. This led to my learning of un poco de español, in college, and eventually romantic relationships with Spanish speaking partners. I now consider myself, “semi-fluid”, it depends on the country the speaker is from.

I also think that’s led to me initially liking Bad Bunny (long before he was thrust in to the spotlight), J Balvin and several other Mexican and Dominican artists.

Lastly, I also have to shoutout my gym. My local Crunch gym literally is a club. Every time I go in, they are bumping some of the best hip-hop, electronic and reggaeton I’ve ever heard. My Google “What is This Song?” button is practically broken from all the tunes I’ve searched while working out.

This is the latest from those searches. Between the bumping beat powering the group fitness class in the corner through their HIIT, to the slick sample of Ludacris’ “Saturday” the banger level of “Pakata” is well over 9000.

All this is a long ass way to say, Pakata = muy duro.

Honorable mention: Skrillex, J Balvin – In Da Getto (Henry Fong Remix) and it’s remixes from the recent LP.

Latin flair meets dance music in hit “Say My Name”

Music powerhouses David GuettaBebe Rexha J Balvin are enjoying their time in the spotlight while trending all over the interwebs as “Say My Name” continues to blow up. With over 20 million views on Youtube (as of Nov. 29th) for the official music video, the song is a certified hit.

The song adopts a slower, more latin-influenced flair than what French DJ, Guetta is usually known for. The result of Bebe’s sultry vocals along with J Balvin’s Spanish crooning produces a mix that works incredibly well.
