Rich Boy, of “Throw Some D’s” fame (see below) has released a new track with Lil’ Hick and Dev (the singer associated with The Cataracs and Far East Movement, sang the chorus on “Like a G6”). The track is a mélange of hip-hop, electro sounds, smooth wavey piano chords and calming vocals in the chorus and background. Give it a listen and decide what you think of it!
The song that put Rich Boy on the map (released back when I was in high school, but a classic nonetheless!)
Featuring one of my favorite electronic acts, British singer/DJ duo Alunageorge, comes “To Ü,” arguably one the best songs off of Skrillex and Diplo’s new album Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü. AlunaGeorge is comprised of British singer/DJ Duo Aluna Francis and George Reid.
The group experienced a rise in popularity following the release of their first single “You Know You Like It” from their 2013 album, Body Music. This single became even more popular, as did the group themselves after rising superstar DJ Snake made a massive remix of the song in 2013. The remix was featured in a continuous megamix by dubstep DJ duo Adventure Club (Superheroes Anonymous Vol. 3) and by 2014, had become popular enough to warrant receiving its own music video.
Credits to Et Musique Pour Tous for this deep house cut of Shawn Mendes‘ “Never Be Alone” coming to us from DJs Invoker and Rex Buchanan. The whistling melody throughout makes for a smooth, chill song with a sort of “cowboy riding off into the sunset” sound mixed with an absolutely groovy baseline. Enjoy.
California-born trap bass producer, RL Grime is no stranger to the EDM scene. His songs run the gamut of dance music’s genres though he specializes in trap and hip-hop remixes, along with his original music. He teams up once again with fellow Califonian and BBC Radio One resident DJ, Salva. The two produced a well-known remix of Kanye West’s “Mercy” back in 2012 and remixed the Jamie Lidell song “What a Shame” in 2013. They join together once again to give us a trappy, albeit somewhat darker version of Travi$ Scott’s “Skyfall”.
R&B songstress, Sevyn Streeter’s very unique, unconventional duet with Chris Brown, “Don’t Kill the Fun” is climbing music charts and preparing for its music video release. Sevyn has previously worked and sung with C.B. on “It Won’t Stop”. Her single “nEXT” also achieved some mainstream success.
Receiving airplay on Atlanta radio stations such as Streetz 94.5 and HOT 107.9, her latest single combines jazzy saxophone style riffs combined with ambient, very house/lounge inspired backbeats. The track itself has a very different feel and variable rhythm / time structure. It also doesn’t really have a dedicated, discernable “chorus.”
The result, which admittedly, had to grow on me after several listens, is catchy. Even if the vocals/lyrics aren’t your thing, one can at least appreciate the genius of the instrumental. Props to Sevyn and Chris for experimenting with a sound and lyrical content that bucks the mainstream trend of trappy beats and sex or money-infused messages.I foresee remixes of the song already and/or people rapping over this beat as it grows in popularity.
The music video for the song will debut later today (Feb. 10th). Sevyn’s fans & her Behind the Scenes video of the making of the MV hint towards complex choreography by Chris Brown, and possibly Sevyn herself.
Sevyn Streeter, R&B songstress and singer-songwriter from Haines City, Florida has been in the music industry since 2001. She has been involved in music and singing from a young age and has not only been in a female R&B group, but has also written many songs for several hit artists such as Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, Fantasia Barrino, Ariana Grande, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz, Estelle, Brandy and more. She also has worked with producers like Timbaland, Polow Da Don and Swizz Beats.
Hit EDM artists, Zeds Dead and Dirtyphonics combine to create this dance, dubstep-infused track featuring Bright Lights. The result is a damn good tune that intertwines just the right amount of future house sounds and dubstep “womp-womp” to create a harmonious EDM cut, fit for DJs and dancefloors.

After quite a long period of inactivity Trippy Turtle posted a remix of O.T. Genasis’ Coco about a week…err no I’m sorry, about a month ago (damn Bobby Schmurda!). This remix puts a nice Jersey House club sound to the song that would fit right into a house music lounge.
