For those that are so inclined, I released a new mix under my alter-ego, LUMINUS, for the upcoming Spring season in March. This is the second volume of my “In the Mixx” series and is available on Soundcloud and through a link after the post.
This blend of hip-hop/rap music and electronic dance music features hits such as Young Thug’s “Danny Glover” [REMIX], the blog-topping, chart-climbing “Partition (Dave Aude Remix)” and a slick remix to Tinashe’s “2 On feat. Schoolboy Q” single by Wax Motif.
Also featured are songs from fellow DJs I’ve blogged about such as FLCNS (FALCONS) and DJ Renz (of the APH x Renz duo) and more. Check it out at the link up top or right here:
Queen Bey drops the video to “Partition” and in less than 24 hours has more than 1.5 million views. The comments are rife with stanns, haters and those crying Illuminati. But everyone on YouTube wishes they could pull off a feat as amazing as that. I ain’t mad at her…!
Twofold shows us what post-dubstep music should sound like, more akin to its Drum ‘N Bass, Dance (almost techno if you will) roots and less bass-centered “wub wub” music (as Borderlands 2 so amusingly put it) on their EP “The Second Phase”.
I bought their EP on Beatport.com after hearing the first single “Skyfire.” Always a fan of vocal dance music this song, struck a chord with me, no pun intended. Also on the EP, “Goliathus” and “Violet” are stand out tracks making Twofold a definite artist to look out for in dance clubs. The final track “Sector 14” goes back to the mainstream dubstep sound, or almost a Heavy Drum ‘N Bass track centered around a “noisy” buildup, climax and breakdown. Nevertheless, for the price, this is a great EP for any EDM fan and for DJs, two of the tracks are already at the mix-friendly 140 BPM. Check ’em out for yourself!
The originators of the trap EDM turn up game have released a new Banned mix, titled “Banned 3D” the hour+ long mix compiles new trap music, with favorites from artists such as Juicy J, RiFF RaFF and more.
Check it out and show the HDY BOYZ some love. TURN UP!!
I’ll be as objective as I can :3 . Check out my newest release “Dustwave Atmospherism” a 30 min joy ride into the sounds of hip-hop mixed and infused with EDM. You can also get a FREE DOWNLOAD and please leave comments or critiques so that I may grow as a DJ!
I may put a tracklist up when I get a minute but I have been very busy.
Ke$ha and Pitbull have taken their hit single, “Timber” to the top of the Hot 100 charts, according to Billboard. This marks the second single for Pitbull to top No. 1 charts and the third for Ke$ha. Pitbull previously held the top spot with “Give Me Everything” feat. Ne-Yo Afrojack and Nayer in early July 2011, while Kesha’s “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R” topped the chart for several consecutive weeks in 2010. The song is currently at No. 2 on the iTunes Top 100 just behind Katy Perry and Juicy J.’s “Dark Horse.”
“Timber” combines Ke$ha’s catchy hooks and Pitbull’s usual ahem…”style” of rapping over blues harmonica melodies to a dance beat. The result is far more pleasing to the ear and while I have never been a fan of Pitbull lyrically his effort on this song seems much more, organic. Ke$ha only further saves this song with a hook only she could pull off. All this song needs now is a couple of good EDM remixes!
