[Ambient House/IDM:] Zhu – Intoxicate

[Ambient House/Intelligent Dance Music]
Intoxicate – Zhu

What can I say about Zhu? Other than that his music is mind blowing, Zhu has been making waves in the electronic scene for quite some time now. In one of his latest releases “Intoxicate” he reaffirms his rising position among electronic producers.

“Intoxicate” is a wild, deep journey through spacey sounds, trippy bass lines and incredibly catchy computer vocals. You can’t help but move and sway to the beat as it builds up and breaks down, or for the final chorus and trap snare reprise near the ending. As the computer repeats, “Intoxicate…exhilarate…stimulate…accelerate…” you find your body and mind wanting to do the same.

Do yourself a favor and check “Intoxicate” out, as well as more from Zhu including a great remix by Enda of his song “Faded.”

[Dance/Club House:] CiD – Love is Blind & GTA & Wax Motif – Get It All // [Future Trap/Rap:] With You – Ghost (ft. Vince Staples)

[Dance/Club House]
CiD – Love is Blind

CiD is certainly an artist to be reckoned with. Having dropped numerous bangers on his own, and with fellow house giant “Kaskade,” I still have yet to find music from him that I don’t really like. “Love is Blind” is an awesome future bass-house track that pumps up the volume with slowed down vocal samples over futuristic and far out electro-synths. The result is a song with instruments you’d normally associate with a more chill, mellow house cut being used to create a floor-filling club banger. Check out other songs I’ve featured by CiD such as his collaboration with Kaskade in “Us” or one of his more recent house bangers “Sweet Memories

GTA & Wax Motif – Get It All

EDM producer GTA does it again, with help from house producer Wax Motif in “Get It All.” While the song doesn’t really do anything sonically that is very novel or unique, it’s combinations of melodies is soothing to the ear and you can’t help but bop to it. Check out a rap collab by GTA and rapper Vince Staples in “Little Bit of This.”

[Future House] marshmello Starter Pack // IDM: Intelligent Dance Music from Mr. Carmack & more

Wrong – marshmello

Colourr – marshmello

If you haven’t heard of marshmello yet and consider yourself an EDM fan you have got some serious life choices to re-evaluate. Taking the genre by storm since his arrival, he considers his music “deep fluffy sexy trap house” according to his Facebook. He is indeed correct in that marshmello‘s tracks successfully combine elements of house, trap and even older styles of dance music to create truly epic tracks. One of his older tracks “Find Me” was on a mix CD I left in my mother’s car about 4-6 months ago and she still bumps it to this day! Check it out below and a different style of futuristic EDM on the next page.

[Festival Dance / Big Room:] Kaskade & CID – Us // [Dancehall // Jersey Bounce:] Ayo Jay feat. Fetty Wap – Your Number (Mvntana Remix)

Festival Style Dance / Future Big Room
Kaskade & CID – Us

“Us” Official Music Video

We are the start of something new

And they don’t need to know about you,
’bout me, ’bout us,
‘Bout you, ’bout me, ’bout us

Just in time for the warmer weather, perfect for Spring and Summer EDM fests, one of my favorite house producers, Kaskade, has released a music video for his single “Us” made in collaboration with CID. The music video follows a family in the Philippines throughout their day, taking an observational look at universal, albeit basic human interactions and emotions.

The song definitely channels massive energy with its minimalistic build-up into a bass-blasting ride through heavy synth waves and chords. “Us” is sure to be a club and festival favorite and it is great to see Kaskade still coming out with material all-the-while changing up his musical styles, and doing so successfully. This song will hopefully be one of many future Big-Room hits to come.

Dancehall / Jersey House
Ayo Jay feat. Fetty Wap – Your Number (Mvtana & Lil E Remix)

Melvitto on the beat
Just wanna tell you a story ’bout dis girl wey I just meet
She looking fly, yeah she lookin’neat
Ya boy looking like money, right from my head down to my feet but,

She dey smile at mi,
I dun really know what it mean…

This song has been in heavy rotation the past week or so on all my music-enabled devices. Producer Mvntana‘s massive remix of Ayo Jay’s “Your Number.” Transforming the floor-filling dancehall number, featuring Fetty Wap, the remix combines the original’s dancehall and reggae vibes and melds it with bass-bumping Jersey House.

The result is an insanely catchy high-energy dance track doing the hot 2013 single justice, well worth checking out. You can listen to the original and watch its music video below the remix above. Learn more about the artists below:

[DJ Mixes] New iLLUMiИUS Mixes ft. Major Lazer, Fetty Wap, Wiz Khalifa

[Club EDM, Dance & Trap DJ Mix]
Syncopation Vol. 1

[Hip-Hop/Rap DJ Mix]
Put In Werk 2015

Fresh for your listening ears are two brand mixes I’ve recorded in the past few months that I had laying around and finally got around to finishing/cleaning up. “Syncopation” and “Put In Werk” are “preview” mixes of series to come further down the pipeline, with the former being newer and featuring club style EDM.

The latter, a mix of solely hip-hop and rap music, with a little ‘chill trap’ for added flavor. “Put In Werk” is heavy with Fetty Wap appearances and is capped off by one of the sickest Drake remixes I’ve ever heard (Ain’t No Tellin’ remixed by stwo).

For now, you can download these mixes (and many others!) for FREE straight from my Soundcloud.

[Hip-Hop Origins:] [Throwback] Eminem – Seduction (Prod. by DJ Kahlil) // [Dance Origins:] [Deep Trance Throwback] Tom Clous – Secretly & 4 Clubbers – Secrets

Today’s Hip-Hop Origins / Throwback Post:

[Hip-Hop/Rap] Eminem – Seduction (prod. by DJ Kahlil)

From his 2010 album “Recovery” which Eminem has rapped about in his semi-unreleased single “Syllabes” featuring Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Stat Quo & 50 Cent, claiming “Encore he [I] was on drugs, Recovery [I] was flushin’ em out” Eminem recognized this wasn’t his strongest album, but despite that a few bangers are still present. “Seduction” is a deeply-emotional track with a very solid beat and rhyme structure where Mathers compares the rap game to a woman he wants to seduce with lines like “One minute she loves you / the next she don’t / she’s been stolen from you / it’s like a (verbal) seduction when I tell ’em ‘Girls on the floor…

Eminem is contanstly brought up on comment sections and internet forums as one of the “Greatest MCs of All Time,” whether true or not, no one can deny the “not afraid to take it there” rapper, “8-Mile” star-actor, and ever-controversial Marshall Mathers lacks longevity. Eminem’s music is a shining beacon of originality in a music scene, that, at times, completely lacks it. Ever since hearing “My Name Is (Slim Shady)” at summer camp probably around the age of 10, knowing “my parents would kill me if they knew I was listening to such profane music” (lol) I knew there was something special about Eminem. He had a very unique sound, that sounded authentic, not faked, and some killer back-up in production and features. Working with Dido, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and countless other artists Eminem certainly has a spot in the circle of “Greatest Rappers of All-TIme.”

Check out this classic throwback and leave comments below about what you think of Recovery and Eminem as a rapper.

[Deep Trance] Tom Klous – Secretly

[Eurodance / Festival Trance] 4 Clubbers – Secrets

Next we’re highlighting two classic trance tunes, Tom Klous’Secretly” and 4 Clubbers’ Secrets (Club Mix),” two great EDM tracks showcasing the moving power of good trance music. The first “Secretly,” from EDM DJ-producer, Tom Klous, is a chill vocal trance track with heavy layers of instrumentation coupled with mesmerizing vocals (from Tiff Lacey). The second “Secrets,” by 4 Clubbers, is much more energetic and incorporates this energy into fist-pumping, festival-ready synths alongside a very European-style dance/bass structure.

[Future Bass / Dancehall:] Too Original (Mandragora! on Acid Remix) – Major Lazer feat. Elliphant & Rockwell

[Festival Trap / Future Trap:] Too Original (T-Mass Remix) – Major Lazer feat. Elliphant & Rockwell

[Future Dancehall] Too Original (feat. Elliphant & Rockwell) [Official Version] Lyric Video – Major Lazer

I’ma blaze high, til’ the day I die
sweat the shit out, every tear, every lie
Anybody wanna dance with meh?
Sippin’ on my rum in the corner still, ah

We a groove to di morning break.
Na, we go banana ina suga shake…

Bring the base up, make a blasta block!

Major Lazer’s lastest album Peace is the Mission has generated a lot of buzz in the music world, especially concerning EDM. With the chart topping single featuring Ariana Grande, “All My Love” dominating US (and worldwide) airwaves it’s only right to do a feature on another quite popular, more eclectic single from the album “Too Original.”
