[Electro-Future-House] Kanye West – All of the Lights (Prince Fox x Hotel Garuda ReFiX)

All of the Lights (Prince Fox x Hotel Garuda ReFiX) – Kanye West

Initially I was very wary of a remix of one of Kanye West’s most iconic songs to date. Thankfully Prince Fox and Hotel Garuda did an amazing job and definitely did the original justice. This remix slows down the vocals and gives them a hauntingly resounding feel, as if people were chanting in the woods somewhere or singing the chorus at a candlelight vigil. The result is extremely serene while not compromising the rest of the turn-up energy inherent in the rest of the track.

It’s also good to see Garuda’s name up there again. I don’t know he may be pretty big now but I remember when he was breaking out onto the scene with some incredibly eclectic unique music. Prince Fox is also in a similar style with his very abstract, future oriented and IDM-inspired EDM songs.

Check out more from these artists on their Soundcloud pages and be sure to look out for more from them in the near future.

[Future House/Trap:] Kid Ink – Main Chick (feat. Chris Brown) [Apex Rise Flip] // SIVIK – U Got (XXYYXX Remix)

Main Chick ft. Chris Brown (Apex Rise Flip)

Check out this absolutely banging remix of Kid Ink’s “Main Chick”. Apex Rise puts an amazingly danceable, uplfting serotonin-releasing future remix. Crescendos of layered vocals alongside trappy snares and futuristic synths make this track stand out above “just any old trap song.” Be sure to check it out above and on Apex Rise’s Soundcloud.

U Got (XXYYXX Remix) – SIVIK

Next up is a quite amazing chill track “u Got’ remixed by the master of ambient chill, psychedelic music himself, XXYYXX. He takes SIVIK’s original song and turns it into a mesmerizing entrancing chill tune with some trappy hi-hats, shakers, calm soothing regular and chipmunk vocals and even a tempo shift. Simply a masterpiece to behold. Check it out on SIVIK or XXYYXX’s Soundcloud.

[EDM Origins] [Dance / Speed Rave:] Nancy & The Boys – Survivor (Speed Dance Remix) [Destiny’s Child Cover]

Dance/rave remix of Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” by Nancy & The Boys

For this EDM Origins post I’m highlighting a song I heard back in my Dance Dance Revolution days from the popular Japanese dance music compilation series, Dancemania. Hosted by Toshiba-EMI, Dancemania was like a compendium of dance, eurodance and techno-themed music mixed together featuring a lot of great, cheesy, Japanese (and other nations) and all-around rave ready tracks highly suitable for DDR. Many of the artists in the series were “one-hit wonders” or specifically consigned by the label to make songs for Dancemania and/or DDR signing the rights to Toshiba-EMI or Konami.

This particular remix is a speed-dance, euro-rave remix of Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor.” I particularly enjoy the speedy spin Nancy & The Boys put on the song and wish there was a longer version. Because I could not find the track anywhere I uploaded it to Youtube with the lyrics. Enjoy!

[Trap / R&B:] Beyoncé – End of Time (DJ Sliink & Big O Remix) // [Trap:] Krewella – Live For the Night (Aero Chord Remix)

This awesome trap remix is one of the better remixes I’ve heard of Beyoncé’s “End of Time” with bumping beats, elements of trap and Jersey house rhythms. It is also one of the few remixes that successfully incoporates Beyoncé’s insanely catchy and rhythmic ad-libbing at the very beginning of the remix (and the original), something I hoped other remixes would do a lot, it’s probably the best part of the song and having it repeat is a recipe for sonic eargasms.

Live for the Night (Aero Chord Remix) – Krewella

Krewella’s smash hit “Live For the Night” receives the remix treatment from electronic producer Aero Chord, who makes the jam into a trappy, bass-filled banger with a good amount of trance influence. You can check out another great remix from Aero Chord, though much more of a dubstep/dance vibe, in his remix of “Twerk” by the Diamond Pistols below:

[EDM Origins:] [Dance / Trance:] Stunt – Raindrops (DJ Demand Remix) // [Electronic / Hip-Hop] WZRD (Kid Cudi) – Ride 4 U (feat. Chip Tha Ripper & Far East Movement)

Hold my hand, let’s chase the sun,
we both know something’s begun
nothing feels that real without you
wanna learn so much about you…

This EDM Origins post is on the electronic, dance song “Raindrops” by Stunt, one of my personal favorites in my adolescent years. “Raindrops” channels the energetic dance music and rave scene rampant in Europe and the fledgling soon-to-be-movement in the United States. This came at a time where a few years prior and around the 2000s, it was not uncommon for American electronic producers and artists to release their music on European labels and markets due to the fact the demand was just not there in America. My, how far we’ve come. Take a listen to this pumped up club track and reminisce of those golden years with me!

Next up, from the moon man, Kid Cudi, himself is electro-inspired masterpiece, “Ride 4 U”. With back-up support from the top-notch “real hip-hop” rapper Chip Tha Ripper and the eclectic California-based electronic/rap band, Far East Movement. The beat is simply crack, produced by none other than one of Cudi’s right hand producers, Dot Da Genius. Check the song out, drift off, or simply ride out to “Ride 4 U”…
