[New Releases:] Tchami – World to Me EP (Confession Records)
One of my favorite EDM/Future House DJs, Tchami, whom I saw in concert here in Atlanta about a month or so ago, has finally released the Extended Play of his hit song, “World to Me.”
My favorite remixes so far from the EP are the Rootkit Remix and Dillon Nathaniel’s Remix. Nathaniel’s remix was dropped by Tchami and Malaa at the Atlanta Tabernacle show and features some festival-rocking, club-jumping bass revvs that are simply amazing.
The Rootkit Remix is much more atmospheric and when the chorus/drop hits the following mish mash of sounds resounds and lifts the track, and you, up high into the air. Sounding like, I dunno, for some reason it kinda reminds me of the ethereal-ness I experienced when first hearing Morgan Page’s “Fight For You” and it’s “Derby Fight” mash-up remix.

Check out some of these great tracks by electronic producer and DJ, SAM F. His music has been featured on the popular animated show American Dad. In the episode ‘Standard Deviation’, the main character Stan must defeat his boss, Avery Bullock, in a DJ battle to avoid being sent on a suicidal CIA mission. He accomplishes this by downloading a set by “some weird guy named SAM F who had a billion likes [on Soundcloud]” as he states in the episode. Sam’s remix of “Flicka Da Wrist” appears during the episode’s most prominent scene, where Stan experiences a drug-induced trip that has him eventually winning his DJ battle.
If you know me, you know that American Dad is one of my favorite animated shows of all time. Though I grew up with MacFarlane’s parent show, Family Guy, over time Family Guy has struggled to retain its’ core audience. Episodes of Family Guy recently have gotten better, but for a time (about a year or two ago) some of the episodes seemed a little too politically charged, or had jokes that were too random, specific, or niche-driven.
Lorca & Jamie deliver an uplifting and epic remix of Little Mix’s “Touch” that’s too good to miss.
[Chill House:] Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out (Dave Winnel Remix)
Probably THE best remix of “Stressed Out” I’ve ever heard. I’m also a very big fan of the Andrew Lundeen remix, but Dave Winnel’s is far more remarkable. I could never hate on a remix of this song that repeats my favorite pre-chorus “My name’s Blurryface / And I, care what you think.” Be sure to check out both remixes if you’re a fan of the original!
[Chill House] [2016 Throwback:] Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out (Andrew Lundeen Remix)
Popular UK pop band and the girls behind the second highest meme in views on my Youtube channel, Little Mix is one of the most popular pop groups in the world (as far as English music goes). Lorca & Jamie put the song “Touch” into heavenly dance-house status in their uplifting and epic remix. Pure house synths, nice effects and a pounding dancefloor-ready beat make this remix fresh, hot, you know, all that good shit.
Any song that can both make me feel nostalgic or that essence of pure pop music (the original, or think N*SYNC, Britney Spears in the 90s) and combine it with elements of today’s music is automatically a favorite in my book. Don’t miss this great remix!

Music channel on YouTube, is a brand new Future House banger from Bebe Rexha remixed by Pryor. “I Got You” has quality future house synths, great vocals and is calming and energizing at the same time. Throw in a little trap snare and you’ve got a perfect track for summer days at the beach, by the pool, out in the backyard or wherever your heart’s desire.

Today we’re bringing you some fresh house music for your listening ears. Two Friends bring futuristic house blended with melodic chords and vocals resulting in the calming, yet uplifting “Overdose.” This remix by TRU Concept adds layers of chill, future house to the song, in place of the more dubstep-y, pop-dance fusion that is the original. Next up, Snakehips dance-house affair, “Don’t Leave” featuring MØ brings high-energy and atmospheric vocals; ones that only the voice behind Major Lazer’s “Lean On” could bring. Layers of synth sounds and calming effects mix well on this track, and though it’s initial feel is a bit like “dance-pop” there is still a very awe-inspiring deepness inherent in “Don’t Leave.” Check out the song above and check out other songs I’ve reviewed by Snakehips here and here.
Erykah Badu’s take on Kanye West’s “Real Friends” is a classic banger that addresses today’s notions of friendships and relationships.

R&B goddess and hip-hop‘s ephemeral, ‘realest b*tch in the game’s’ take on Kanye West’s “Real Friends” puts a sweet, touching spin on the calminghead-banger. With an instrumental beat characteristic of Kanye himself, as a producer; Badu raps and sings over a prominent 4-bar loop of the song to make a point about friends. The repeating hook (and even elements of the original song) have a very J Dilla or No I.D. feel in being different and unique, but still clearly hip-hop.
According to Badu, these days we use the word “friends” far too loosely and ambiguously which results in most of us having homeboys and homegirls that we wish we never knew at all. “Real Friends” are a problem that have plagued humans since existence. Who are our real friends? How do we feel when our so-called homeboys and homegirls turn out not to be our friends? In this Internet age, it’s common for us not to have any friends, except online or through social media, or to think we have friends then catch them slighting us on social media, or not having our back online.
Who do you consider your “friends”, your “real friends”, your “homeboys/girls”? A psychologist once told me that he thought we should do away with the word “friends” altogether. He claimed the increased rates of “falling out” with friends is due to our own high expectations we set for people who are our “friends”. When they don’t live up to these expectations we feel disappointed (if a friend doesn’t like and comment on ALL your posts, or is usually in tug with you everywhere but in one instance you can’t find them/count on them).
We have to remember that friends are simply that, friends. Of course some of us have certain friends we can count on more than others, but in general when we start placing them on pedestals or expect them to always have our back we being searching for and expecting someone who goes beyond a “friend”. Think about that as you go about your day.

If you haven’t heard of marshmello yet and consider yourself an EDM fan you have got some serious life choices to re-evaluate. Taking the genre by storm since his arrival, he considers his music “deep fluffy sexy trap house” according to his Facebook. He is indeed correct in that marshmello‘s tracks successfully combine elements of house, trap and even older styles of dance music to create truly epic tracks. One of his older tracks “Find Me” was on a mix CD I left in my mother’s car about 4-6 months ago and she still bumps it to this day! Check it out below and a different style of futuristic EDM on the next page.
