[Electronic/House]
Two Friends – Overdose (TRU Concept Remix)

I want you til’ I overdose…

Today we’re bringing you some fresh house music for your listening ears. Two Friends  bring futuristic house blended with melodic chords and vocals resulting in the calming, yet uplifting “Overdose.” This remix by TRU Concept adds layers of chill, future house to the song, in place of the more dubstep-y, pop-dance fusion that is the original. Start your 2017 on the good foot with this track, hosted by selected. music, and check out others from their music group below.

[Electronic/Pop]
Snakehips – Don’t Leave (feat. MØ)

Don’t leave
Shut your mind off and let your heart breathe
You don’t need to be worried
I may not ever get my shit together
But ain’t nobody gonna love you better

Next up, Snakehips dance-house affair, “Don’t Leave” featuring  brings high-energy and atmospheric vocals; ones that only the voice behind Major Lazer’s “Lean On” could bring. Layers of synth sounds and calming effects mix well on this track, and though it’s initial feel is a bit like “dance-pop” there is still a very awe-inspiring deepness inherent in “Don’t Leave.” Check out the song above and check out other songs I’ve reviewed by Snakehips here and here.

[Hip-Hop/Rap] Gucci Mane – Both (feat. Drake) // [Hip-Hop/Rap] Migos – T-Shirt

Just in time for the new year comes new fuego from Gucci Mane, Drake and the Migos!!

Hello all, and Happy New Year. I hope everyone has had a wonderful 2017 thus far and wish you all a wonderful year ahead.

[Hip-Hop/Rap] Gucci Mane – Both (feat. Drake) from Gucci Mane’s Return of the East Atlanta Santa

I don’t usually do this, ‘less I’m drunk or I’m high
But I’m both right now, got me talkin’ bout my life
[…] I don’t usually do this, ‘less I’m drunk or I’m high
but I’m both right now and I need you in my life

With GuWop out of prison it seems he is simply everywhere these days. Gucci Mane has been dropping music like crazy and making appearances everywhere from VICE to NY’s Power 105.1 FM. Straight from his latest mixtape East Atlanta Santa Gucci Mane is bringing straight heat with his single “Both” featuring Drake.

Starting off the track with some signature Gucci grammar-ful lyrics “I got so many felonies/I might can’t never go to Canada” you can feel the makings of a top Gucci track with lasting appeal, even before you hear “If Young Metro don’t trust you, I’m gon’ shoot yo.”

The song largely speaks for itself so I will let it do just that, rather than describe it. Young Metro’s ice-cold beat is perfect for 2017 and Drake absolutely destroys the hook making the song irresistibly catchy. The only downside is at 3 minutes and 10 seconds, the song is far too short.

[Hip-Hop/Rap] Migos – T-Shirt

Last year proved to be quite an unstoppable year for the Migos. Contrary to the general consensus that 2016 wasn’t the best of years, the Migos only rose in popularity, dropped a plethora of new music as they prepare to drop a new album. Perhaps one of the most iconic rap songs of 2016 “Bad & Boujee” has been off the charts across America and the world.

“T-Shirt” continues the traditional Migos flow with an interesting video that pits the group in the middle of the arctic wilderness with several eye-catchingly beautiful women.

[Hip-Hop:] GTA – Little Bit of This (feat. Vince Staples) *from Watch Dogs 2 // [Dance/Trap:] Hoodboi – Closer (feat. ASTR) [Rytmeklubben Remix]

[Hip-Hop/Rap:] GTA – Little Bit of This (feat. Vince Staples)

And for the last time I ain’t on no conscious shit
I like big girls, fast whips, ass & tits,
Mansions of white women, might jack some shit
So stop actin’ like I’m a activist

House DJ and producer GTA has shown he can be versatile. With singles and remixes spanning several different genres, it comes to surprise that he can bring his unique sound to a hip-hop track. “Little Bit of This” features up and coming rapper Vince Staples rapping over an interesting beat with an almost Latin or Asian feel to it. Staples wordplay is just as interesting, “Been crazy come where you livin’ at/kick down the door/get down to get dough/and I ain’t come here for the chitty-chat” and the insanely catchy chorus solidifies the funky flow.

“Little Bit of This” has enjoyed some exposure being the “trailer” theme song for the Watch Dogs 2 video game, for Xbox One and Playstation 4. The soundtrack features a variety of music from many different genres and is as varied and inclusive as a GTA soundtrack.

[Dance & Trap]
Hoodboi – Closer (feat. ASTR) [Rytmeklubben Remix]

Trap DJ Hoodboi has had success in his genre and through remixes of his and by others into Jersey House and club songs. “Closer” is an easily-missed gem that has some quality vocals and interesting melodies worth checking out. Particularly in the Rytmeklubben remix, there is a stark contrast of heavy bass and drops into trap snares with light bell noises and calming female vocals. Check the song out above, and for a more uptempo Jersey House remix check out DJ Hoodboi & Falcons remix of Ty Dolla $ign’s “Paranoid” below:

[Dance/Club House:] CiD – Love is Blind & GTA & Wax Motif – Get It All // [Future Trap/Rap:] With You – Ghost (ft. Vince Staples)

[Dance/Club House]
CiD – Love is Blind

CiD is certainly an artist to be reckoned with. Having dropped numerous bangers on his own, and with fellow house giant “Kaskade,” I still have yet to find music from him that I don’t really like. “Love is Blind” is an awesome future bass-house track that pumps up the volume with slowed down vocal samples over futuristic and far out electro-synths. The result is a song with instruments you’d normally associate with a more chill, mellow house cut being used to create a floor-filling club banger. Check out other songs I’ve featured by CiD such as his collaboration with Kaskade in “Us” or one of his more recent house bangers “Sweet Memories

[Dance House]
GTA & Wax Motif – Get It All

EDM producer GTA does it again, with help from house producer Wax Motif in “Get It All.” While the song doesn’t really do anything sonically that is very novel or unique, it’s combinations of melodies is soothing to the ear and you can’t help but bop to it. Check out a rap collab by GTA and rapper Vince Staples in “Little Bit of This.”

[Future Trap/Rap]
Ghost (feat. Vince Staples) [Major Lazer Remix] – With You

You can also check out a very cool Future EDM type track featuring Vince Staples in “Ghost” by With You above.

[Dance/Deep House:] CiD & Kaskade – Sweet Memories (Extended Mix) // [Electronic Trap] Far East Movement x Marshmello – Freal Luv (feat. Tinashe & Chanyeol of EXE)

Two hot EDM bangers from the likes of CiD, Kaskade and marshmello are here.

[Dance & Deep House]
Sweet Memories – CiD & Kaskade

Your sweet, memories
the one we danced to, all night long…

CiD & Kaskade’s insta-classic “Sweet Memories” has a very badass extended version (like many of CiD’s songs). Powerful wobbling basslines and funky groovy vocal samples make for a very floor-heavy dance tune. The song is very powerful even with it’s minimalistic take on “vocal house” and is sure to be a favorite among house lovers (also check out the duo’s other hot collab “Us” from Kaskade’s Automatic)

[Electronic Trap]
Freal Luv (feat. Tinashe & Chanyeol of EXE) – Far East Movement x Marshmello

Hustle to win, we be livin’ in sin,
makin’ us two of a kind
새로운 길, babe we got temples to build,
ain’t no haters can step to our grind
-Chanyeol

Hip-hop and electronic group Far East Movement has teamed up with rising-star Trap producer, Marshmello, in the hard-hitting trap banger “Freal Luv.” Bringing R&B songstress Tinashe into the mix and Korean Pop singer Chanyeol, livens the song up even more while heightening it’s diverse sound. On the surface it may begin like your typical trap with female vocals but Tinashe manages to bring some very moving energy to the chorus. Far East Movement has largely been off the mainstream radar for some time, and though this is not the first time they’ve “teamed up” with an EDM producer (All You feat. Waka Flocka heavily sampled Kaskade’s “All You) this cut feels much more authentic. In “All You” the beat was simply sampled from it’s original recording, while this was produced just for the song.

The result is Marshmello‘s signature slamming and slapping snares, heavy bass rolls and triumphant bells keeping the mood light, but intense.

For those in the Atlanta areamarshmello will be performing at The Gold Room in Buckhead, Atlanta on November 23rd. Pre-sale tickets are already sold out.

[Hip-Hop/Rap] Migos – Bad & Boujee (feat. Lil’ Uzi Vert) // [Hip-Hop/Rap] Meek Mill – Froze (feat. Lil’ Uzi Vert & Nicki Minaj)

Migos'”Bad & Boujee” enlists the help of Lil’ Uzi Vert who is also featured alongside Nicki Minaj in Meek Mill’s “Froze”

Bad & Boujee (feat. Lil’ Uzi Vert) – Migos

The Migos have done it again, and with the help of Lil’ Uzi Vert not a moment too soon. Just in time for the colder months comes a rather cold rap number in “Bad & Boujee.” With a smooth relaxed beat the song is perfect for chilling out or lowkey turning up. The single is making rounds across the country and the world.

Froze (feat. Lil’ Uzi Vert & Nicki Minaj) – Meek Mill

Look at my neck, ay, damn you know how froze that is?!
Look at my wrist, unh, yeah you know how froze that is?!

For something a little more high energy we’ve got Meek Mill’s “Froze” proving that Meek is not forever taking L’s. I, for one, thoroughly enjoy the street hustle grind sound mashed with Black rockstar rap vibes (see “Black Beatles”). With help from Lil’ Uzi Vert and Nicki Minaj, Meek cranks out a rap banger that is sure to have people dancing, hitting the quan, and making other dance videos to the songs outrageously addictive chorus.

[Hip-Hop/Trap & Street Rap:] Young Jeezy – All There (feat. Bankroll Fresh) // [Trap EDM:] TroyBoi – OG

[Street Rap]
“All There (feat. Bankroll Fresh) – Young Jeezy

Dope boy 95 Air Maxs on
Came from up the road boy you know we tax homes
You want a whole thing? Hit me on the black phone
Hood nigga, Hot Cheetos what I snack on

After quite a long time Atlanta’s voice of the streets, Jeezy, is finally back with the release of Trap or Die 3. One of the first singles off the album “It’s All There,” which posthumously features fellow ATL rapper Bankroll Fresh is making rounds of local Georgia radio stations and beyond.

With a straight “trap” feel, hard beats accompanied by hood instrumental symphonies and some hard bars from Jeezy and Fresh, “It’s All There” has the makings of a Fall trap anthem. Check out more from Jeezy’s recently released Trap or Die 3 here.

[Trap EDM]
OG – Troyboi

Similarly, TroyBoi is back on the scene, though he really hasn’t been anywhere with a new trap track called “OG.” This one is actually a lot more melodic than your usual trap fare, which is to be expected of TroyBoi. The song opens with a calming melody of bells before dropping wall-thumping bass hits and your usual snares. However, before it has a chance to become too stale or repetitive TroyBoi manages to keep the beat progression interesting. His returns to the calming “bell melody” increase the awe factor of “OG” and create a mix-match of relaxation, high energy and suspense.

You can download OG for free from TroyBoi’s Soundcloud.
