[Future Wave / Breakbeat:] Fatboy Slim – Mad Flava (Autograf Remix) // [EDM Origins: Progressive House / Trance] Avril Lavigne – Alice ( Michael Conway Remix)
Future Wave/Breakbeat: Mad Flava (Autograf Remix) – Fatboy Slim
EDM producer/group Autograf was lucky enough to be honored by being called upon by alternative rock/trip-hop group Fatboy Slim to remix their single “Mad Flava“. Putting an absolutely amazing future feel to the song, I almost didn’t know what to coin this genre of music. Maybe all these Future modifiers (in front of House, Trap, Dance, whatever) should just all be condensed into FUTURE. That begs the question, what will we call it when it is the future, say in 20 years?
Sillyness aside, Autograf has more than their fair share of stunning remixes. Be sure to check out their songs on their Soundcloud, where you can download them for free! Next up for our ORIGINS post (below) we highlight some Progressive House remixed by Michael Conway as well as a legendary trance track from Trance God DJ, Ferry Corsten, “Down on Love” from his monumental album L.E.F.

Progressive House: Alice (Michael Conway Remix) – Avril Lavigne
https://soundcloud.com/michaelconway/avril-lavigne-alice-michael-conway-remix
This is probably the second remix of Avril Lavigne song that I actually like, and this will take first for the best (in my opinion) as the general feel of this awesome, beat-building progressive house remix of “Alice” from EDM producer Michael Conway is much more widely applicable to any situation; compared to the eurobeat-ish, happy hardcore sound prominent in the Revo-luution remix and Nightcore’s take on that same remix (below):
Hello Kitty (Nightcore Revo-luution Remix) – Avril Lavigne
Trance: Down on Love – Ferry Corsten
Finally, last but no way in flaming hell, least. Is smash trance-track “Down on Love” from Dutch trance, EDM DJ and artist Ferry Corsten. Well known for working with and remixing tunes from the likes of DJ Tiesto, Above & Beyond and more Corsten has been a signature name on the scene since the early to mid-2000s (much like Kaskade, Benny Benassi and several other DJs who “came up” during this time period).
Released back in 2006, I was a high school junior when Corsten’s second studio album dropped. I copped it of course, during a time where the cashier at Best Buy looked at my funny, or as if I was crazy, this black teenager buying EPs from BT (Emotional Technology) or the even more rare, obscure and EDM foundation builder, Norweigan group, Röyksopp’s The Understanding. Below you’ll find two standout singles from BT and Röyksopp and two more deeper cuts.
Communicate – BT (also check out “The Great Escape“)

Communicate, communicate

What Else is There (Jacques Lu Cont Mix) – Röyksopp [2005]
It was me on that road,
but you couldn’t see me
too many lights out, nowhere near here,
I’ve got a golden ear,
I cut and I spear —
and what else is there?

[Progressive Club:] Eric Prydz – Generate // [Trap / Chill:] K. Camp – Lil’ Bit (no sleep Remix)
Pryda – Generate
Eric Prydz is a well known name in the EDM sphere, mainly for his house and trance music, much of it released under his pseudo-nym Pryda. Prydz is known for powerful deep-house tracks, featured all throughout the album Pryda, some of which I have featured in some of my sets. Check out the Ark remix of his song “Generate” above.
K. Camp – Lil’ Bit (no sleep Remix)
The next remix is a great chill/trap remix of Atlanta rapper K. Camp’s “Lil’ Bit.” EDM artist no sleep adds a very nice ambient, psychedelic vibe to the original rap track and makes it a much smoother ride without compromising its hardness. Check it out above.
[NEW FUTURE CHILL:] Mikos Da Gawd – Sparagus (with Tito Tunes) // KRS – Make Her Dance (Bandz A Make Her Dance Future Chill Remix)

Got some new future music for everybody out there. First we are highlighting the simply dreamy, serotonin-inducing aural roller-coaster ride that is “Sparagus” coming from EDM artists Mikos Da Gawd with help from Tito Tunes. Let your mind go for a ride as you mellow out to this future chillwave track.

Next up is an amazingly chill re-work of popular rap/trap hit “Bandz A Make Her Dance” originally by Juicy J. For this incredibly chill remix we highlight EDM artists KDS who has turned the trap banger anthem into a relaxed afternoon, bass-heavy future wave single. Chill is an understatement here and the use and variety of samples used is refreshing. Don’t sleep on this! Thumbs up all around here!!
[Atmospheric Instrumental] Clams Casino – Gorilla // [Dream Music] XXYYXX – DMT | Instrumental Throwbacks
Make sure you do not sleep on these two standout tracks from two of the hottest producers in the music game right now. The first “Gorilla,” comes to us from EDM/chillwave/hip-hop producer Clams Casino, who gained much recognition after producing several songs for Lil’ B and A$AP Rocky (Lil B’s “I’m God and A$AP’s “Wassup”) as well as Mac Miller’s “Angel.” Clams is well known in the hip-hop and electronic community and his beats are revered as being very unique, different, often hauntingly good. His self-released instrumental EP, Rainforest, was very well-received. Featuring original beats and instrumental versions of his tracks artists have rapped over, his instrumental tapes became a series (Instrumentals) which is available fore free from his website.
Our second highlighted producer is a god in the indie music community and is celebrated as one of the most prolific and youngest electronic producer to date. “DMT” is one of XXYYXX’s more atmospheric, entrancing and aurally euphoric instrumentals from his popular sophomore album. XXYYXX first gained popularity following the release of his first album Still Sound and his very successful, influential self-titled EP, XXYYXX in 2012. One of the standout singles “About You” (see below) was extremely popular with its calming yet repeating, expounding beat. The song was so popular that a remix featuring rapper 2 Chainz surfaced shortly after the originals’ release.
[Rap/Future Wave] Rich Boy – Paradise (feat. Lil Hick & Dev)
“Rich Boy sellin’ crack, F*ck niggas wanna jack / Sh*t tight no slack, Just bought a Cadillac (Throw some D’s on that b*tch!)
Just bought a Cadillac (Throw some D’s on that bitch!)
Just bought a Cadillac!”
Rich Boy, of “Throw Some D’s” fame (see below) has released a new track with Lil’ Hick and Dev (the singer associated with The Cataracs and Far East Movement, sang the chorus on “Like a G6”). The track is a mélange of hip-hop, electro sounds, smooth wavey piano chords and calming vocals in the chorus and background. Give it a listen and decide what you think of it!
The song that put Rich Boy on the map (released back when I was in high school, but a classic nonetheless!)
