[Trance/House Anthem] Arty, BT & Nadia Ali – Must Be the Love (Dannic Remix)


EDM artist, Dannic, delivers an uplifting trance-house anthem in his remix of Arty, BT & Nadia Ali’s smash hit “Must Be the Love”. Ali is a prominent songstress on her own with sultry vocals that fit perfectly onto EDM tracks. BT is a world-renowned, music “designer” whose music has not only birthed genres but been featured in numerous films and scores. Arty is a rising Russian EDM producer and DJ who was worked with artists such as Markus Schulz, Above & Beyond, Gareth Emery, and Armin Van Buuren.

Nadia Ali is quite the popular songstress in the EDM world. Featured on many artists tracks and producing music of her own she is a sought after female vocalist. Ali first gained popularity in the dance group “iiO” which debuted their 2001 single “Rapture” which became an instant dance hit and 2002’s “At the End”. Ali eventually left the group to pursue a solo career in electronic music and has worked with a wide range of artists.

BT’s accomplishments are too many to count but one of his greater feats is holding the Guiness World Record for song with the most number of edits (vocally in this case) with over 6,000 audio edits in the track Somnambulist “Simply Being Loved”. The song was also featured in the popular Dance Dance Revolution music video game series.

Popular EDM artist ViLLAGE remixes Sia’s hit song Chandelier adding his own layer of smooth beats and sultry vocals for a chilled out version of the pop hit by Sia. Both ViLLAGE and Sia have had a good year for themselves in 2014 becoming ever more popular and as artists to continue to watch through 2015.

Partition (Dave Aude Remix)


Partition (Dave Aude Remix)

Dave Aude’s remix to Beyonce’s “Partition” blew up charts at Hypem.com or Hype Machine, a website which tracks popular songs. The remix climbed to the No. 2 spot on the Remixes Only Chart shortly after its debut. This edit of the single has all the elements you’d expect in a dance song today, interesting parts but not fully fleshed out. Still, it will get people to the dancefloor.

Sleeping Dogs OST gems — “Professional Loving – Emika” on Ninja Tune Radio


Shoutout to the Sleeping Dogs video game soundtrack which showed me some of what Ninja Tune (the record label) has been up to with its own dedicated radio station within the game.

The equivalent of an Asian Grand Theft Auto IV (with a little to be desired in the driving department) Sleeping Dogs was originally released in late 2012, but was given away in January 2014 on Xbox Live’s servers for Gold Members as part of their “Free Games” promotions.

The game is pretty fun, playing as undercover Hong Kong PD cop, Wei Shen, but what surprised me even more was the soundtrack for the game (which only plays while driving usually), for a game released in late 2012 Square Enix chose several songs that were WAAAY before their time (I wish I’d played this game sooner, I wanted to too when it first came out!)

The Electronic radio station “Ninja Tune Radio” features artists such as Emika, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, Bonobo, Plaid, Flying Lotus, Two Fingers and Stateless. I am still analyzing the Hong Kong Hip-Hop/Electronic station (HKLUB) which features many local Hong Kong rap groups and DJs.

Either way big ups to Square Enix for their soundtrack choice in the game, which really surprised me to be honest. Their audio department gets a cookie, most def.

[THROWBACK] Amazon Rain – B-Complex (DRUM ‘N BASS)


Drum ‘N Bass Throwbacks

“Amazon Rain” is a beautiful track that builds a melodic overtone throughout the song getting stronger and climaxing midway through. If you don’t have time for the lengthy though ear-pleasing build-up that lasts around 4 minutes skip to about the 4:30 mark where the drop crescendos into intense energy. It certainly makes me want to move, and feels great for driving or racing (but leave it to the games, please).

Just about as unique is another deep cut from B-Complex that is just as atmospheric in its melody and complex in its beat structure with haunting vocals is “Broken Windows (feat. ill-esha)”. Check it out below – https://youtu.be/FlXOzqNJkm0
