[Festival Dance / Big Room:] Kaskade & CID – Us // [Dancehall // Jersey Bounce:] Ayo Jay feat. Fetty Wap – Your Number (Mvntana Remix)

We’ve got two smash singles for you to check out today. New festival EDM from Kaskade and Jersey House from Mvntana.

Festival Style Dance / Future Big Room
Kaskade & CID – Us

“Us” Official Music Video

We are the start of something new

And they don’t need to know about you,
’bout me, ’bout us,
‘Bout you, ’bout me, ’bout us

Just in time for the warmer weather, perfect for Spring and Summer EDM fests, one of my favorite house producers, Kaskade, has released a music video for his single “Us” made in collaboration with CID. The music video follows a family in the Philippines throughout their day, taking an observational look at universal, albeit basic human interactions and emotions.

The song definitely channels massive energy with its minimalistic build-up into a bass-blasting ride through heavy synth waves and chords. “Us” is sure to be a club and festival favorite and it is great to see Kaskade still coming out with material all-the-while changing up his musical styles, and doing so successfully. This song will hopefully be one of many future Big-Room hits to come.

Dancehall / Jersey House
Ayo Jay feat. Fetty Wap – Your Number (Mvtana & Lil E Remix)

Melvitto on the beat
Just wanna tell you a story ’bout dis girl wey I just meet
She looking fly, yeah she lookin’neat
Ya boy looking like money, right from my head down to my feet but,

She dey smile at mi,
I dun really know what it mean…

This song has been in heavy rotation the past week or so on all my music-enabled devices. Producer Mvntana‘s massive remix of Ayo Jay’s “Your Number.” Transforming the floor-filling dancehall number, featuring Fetty Wap, the remix combines the original’s dancehall and reggae vibes and melds it with bass-bumping Jersey House.

The result is an insanely catchy high-energy dance track doing the hot 2013 single justice, well worth checking out. You can listen to the original and watch its music video below the remix above. Learn more about the artists below:

[Dance / Trance:] Martin Garrix feat. Usher – Don’t Look Down [YT Music Awards] & [Throwback Trance:] Armin Van Buuren feat. Ana Criado – Suddenly Summer (Norin & Rad Remix) [ASOT 556]

Featured in the Youtube Music Awards is dance trackDon’t Look Down” by EDM artist and DJ, Martin Garrix with vocals from R&B sensation Usher. The result is a quite uplifting dance track with an equally interesting, fun and silly music video embracing feeling the music and letting yourself go. Check it out above and more from the YTMAs in the aforementioned link above.

Our next throwback and trance tune is one of my favorites from Armin Van Buuren’s trance megamix series, A State of Trance, this track from its 556th edition is an absolutely stunning and excellent remix of “Suddenly Summer” by Armin Van Buuren featuring female vocalist, Ana Criado. The Norin & Rad Remix takes this trance tune to the top with a simply transfixing repeating synth melody that begins around the 4:30 mark. Take a moment to sit back, relax and let this song take you away

DJ Hoodboi & FLCNS drop massive “Paranoid” Remix: “This b*tch tryna set me up, maybe I’m just paranoid?”

[Jersey House] Ty Dolla $ign – Paranoid (DJ Hoodboi & FLCNS Remix)

DJ Hoodboi and FLCNS deliver a massive remix of Ty Dolla $ign‘s summer smash hit “Paranoid” classifying their remix as, New Jersey House, I can’t stop playing this remix. The deconstruction of the beat and repetitive hooks from the original song create a very dance-floor ready tune that any DJ, or casual music listener can appreciate.

Ty Dolla $ign has been blowing up on the West Coast and in Atlanta since his release of Beach House 2. Follow him on Twitter at @tydollasign also be sure to follow and support DJ Hoodboi and the Falcons at @djhoodboi and @FLCNS respectively!

Clarity (Operation Dankstar Remix feat. Paul Tokarz) BEST REMIX OF 2013

One of the best remixes I have heard of Zedd’s simply incredible atmospheric track “Clarity.” This remix captures the epicness of this song and its beauty with an awesome guitar solo and electronic breakdown crossing lines between dubstep and vocal dance music.

Let me know what you think of this remix in the comments below!

ATL Artist Industry Mixer Event @ Sledge Lounge Fri 12/20

So today I finally attended a Schweinbeck Music Industry Mixer event.  I had been meaning to go for awhile as the woman who runs it also went to the same university as I, and had been inviting me to these events on Facebook for forever.

Come to find out, the most recent one (not sure about all) was hosted at the Sledge Lounge off Buford Hwy near Chamblee and Doraville and in planning what to do for the night Google Maps conveniently “told” me “Yo ninja Darris. This mixer event is like 8 min. from you and you aren’t doing anything. Dat move is?)” and I agreed with G.M.

Sledge Lounge was actually quite a welcome relief to some of the bigger venues I’d been going too and was very chill and intimate, despite the heavy playlist of street and gangsta rap from Local ATL Artists. Prospects attempting to make their way into the music scene of Atlanta were on stage and members of the industry itself, journalists, and PR agents were all there networking as well. I arrived somewhat late (around 11 p.m., two hours after it started) and proceeded to the bar before snapping pictures and videos which will be uploaded soon,

Diana Schweinbeck, business and artist management agent, hosts the Industry Mixer events and has been holding them in Atlanta for the past two years. Many up-and-coming and even established artists, producers, radio personalities and DJs attend her “mixer” events. As someone breaking into the industry myself #BIGTHUMBSUP
