Check out this refreshingly chilled-out single from electronic artist Cyril Hahn “Last” featuring Joel Ford. Soft-house chords and melty-echoing vocals cascade into a funky backbeat and groovy lounge rhythm. The simple, repeating vocals add to the ambient chill vibe creating soundscapes of night-beaches, late night Ibiza chill-room sessions or put simply, a “just drift-away zone.”

Morgan Page’s “Fight For You” is already epic enough in it’s original form, with the incredibly festival-ready mash-up take on Page’s own “Fight For You,” combined with Nima Nesta’s “Derby” in “Derby Fight“. or the deep ambient, Sultan & Shepard Remix or the dubstep-heavy Culture Code Remix. The Beltek Remix is another great, mixable remix emphasizing the heavy atmospheric basslines and melodies inherent in the popular song. Having been remixed six ways to Sunday there is a remix in probably at least one genre that any person alive would enjoy. Check some of them out below:

EDM Origins: “10’s House Music [House/Trance:] Kaskade – Start Again (feat. Becky Jean Williams) // [Club Dance/EDM:]

Today’s EDM Origins highlights songs from none-other-than, the ambassador of American house-music, Kaskade.


[Progressive Trance-House:] Kaskade feat. Becky Jean Williams – Start Again


The EDM Origins post for today focuses on house music, particularly the mish-mash of progressive house, vocal trance and dance music typical of super-producer Kaskade. In “Start Again,” enchanting and uplifting female vocals commence the ride and journey into tech-house beats melded with trance-like melodies. It’s hard to pinpoint any one stand-out track from Dynasty. Most of the album has this signature sound of Kaskade’s. More epic even, are the remixes of EP’s popular tracks and, as is common practice in EDM, the whole album (see Kaskade’s Fire & Ice (Double EP Album), other self-remixers include Diplo and DJ Tiesto to name a few)

[Dance / Club House:] Kaskade & Adam Sun feat. Sunsun – Raining (Dance.Love Edit)

“Raining” is EDM producers, Kaskade and Adam Sun‘s dance-house masterpiece, filled with intoxicating vocals, bass heavy synths and a quite dance-able rhythm. The “dance.love edit” is featured on Kaskade’s remix compilation album, dance.love, alongside a host of other amazing remixes of Kaskade’s songs and other artists such as Alex Gaudino, Samantha James and Adrian Lux (see below:)

EDM Origins’ post today will feature the Swedish electronic producer and DJ, Marcus Schössow and two epic EDM tracks of his, the entrancing “Mr. White” and his epic ambient Nu Progressive remix of John O’Callaghan’s “Take It Away” Both tracks exemplify the core values and foundations of EDM. “Mr. White” and it’s many remixes make successful blends of the original’s use of “female robot” vocals (a la Knife Party), the rhythmic toy or video game synth chords (a la Eric Prydz) and that infectious backbeat present in all today’s club bangers, the 2007 single was way ahead of its time. Two of the better cuts of the song are the “Original mix” and the version of the song that was mixed and included in Trance: The Ultimate Collection 2007.

“Take It Away” is a much more trance-house inspired tune, but just as epic and golden in the world of ambient music. Starting out as expected for a vocal trance tune, the song quickly sheds its cookie-cutter frame as layers of deep house sounds envelop the listener and heavenly, soothing vocals reminiscent of 4 Strings or Tiesto begin. As if this wasn’t good enough already, the song halfway through showcases haunting vocal effects during an a capella, and shortly after drops the unforgettable, addictive melody that caresses the aural senses until the end of the song.

Both tracks are worth checking out, simply for how good they are on their own but also as exemplary cuts embodying the core values of electronic dance music.

[Future Trap / Prog. Dance:] Sevyn Streeter – Don’t Kill the Fun [ARULE Remix] / & / [Rap / Smooth Hip-Hop:] Young Thug – Flava (feat. Rich Homie Quan & Birdman)


Check out ARULE’s amazing remix of Sevyn Streeter’s “Don’t Kill the Fun” featuring Chris Brown. Combining elements of trap, future house and dance music this remix is club and dance ready and one of the more expertly polished remixes of Streeter’s single. You can download it for free on the Soundcloud page.

Second, we have Young Thug’s “Flava” featuring fellow rappers Rich Homie Quan & Birdman off the Rich Gang: The Tour Part I EP. This track has just the right amount of hip-hop sound combined with a pinch of futuristic, chilled-out spacey sounds alongside a smooth echoing piano chord. Check out the Official video above.

[NEW Future Trap / Future House:] Cash Fargo – Undo Your Love // [Future Chillwave / Progressive House:] Class X – Away (Original Mix)


We’ve got two new Future classics for you today from EDM artists, DJs and producer Cash Fargo along with Class-X.
Our first is Los Angeles producer, Fargo’s “Undo Your Love“, a transfixing smooth blend of house-y male vocals, much akin to Disclosure or Tchami, but with that indie, fresh, hipster feel (and I mean that in the best way possible). If songs like this are indicative of Cash Fargo’s work and overall sound, it’s safe to say we can expect him to be a rising name in the alternative EDM scene, slated to appear at alternative EDM venues and festivals (if he is not already).

If you’re looking for something a bit trappier Fargo’s remix of Future’s “Covered ‘N Money” is great as well (see below:)

Next up (link below) is the chillwave progressive-house mélange of sounds in Netherlands DJ, Class-X’s “Away“. With simply beautiful, relaxing piano arpeggios and a back-beat with elements grounded in house, but flirting between the lines of sounds more characteristic of Trance. [EDM Origins House & Alternative:] Kaskade – Steppin’ Out // Kosheen – Same Ground Again


Kaskade is probably one of the most popular and sought-after American producers of electronic and house music. Chances are, if you watch TV, play video games or went to the movies you’ve heard one of his songs. His music is featured in many different forms of media, much akin to fellow EDM producers and DJs, like BT and Paul Oakenfold.

Our feature is one of Kaskade’s signature songs from the early 2000s, the completely chilled-out, smooth house single “Steppin’ Out”

Kaskade is largely known for growing the house music scene in his hometown of Chicago in the early 2000s. Though Kaskade has varied in musical styles during his growth, as a whole, his music can be said to be fulfilling for the soul, or music to put you at ease. Much of his house music includes sultry female vocals alongside soft, harmonic melodies that become instantly recognizable, simply from their uniqueness. Take the song that introduced many, including myself to Kaskade, his absolutely astonishing remix of David Morales & Tamra Keenan’s “Here I Am” featured in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada.

Next up was a random song that my iPod shuffled to today. An EDM/progressive-house tune I bought and downloaded back when I was a senior in high school (2007). This one comes from Alternative Electronic band Kosheen, one of their bigger breakout singles, “Same Ground Again“. In fact, their whole 2007 EP, Damage is chock-full of good alternative-sounding electro music that still holds up today. Check it out above and see more from Kosheen at the links below:
