Gucci Mane dropped a new track yesterday (March 25th) titled “Texas Margarita.” Produced by London on Da Track the single is more “Gucci” type music, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. [credits: allhiphop.com for the story]
The chorus could have been a bit more inventive (guess what the lyrics to it are!), but regardless this track will definitely be “boomin'” and “bunkin'” for most folks especially when/if it gets airplay. Gucci’s last official mixtape was the “Trap Back 2” and his last studio album was “The State Vs. Radric Davis 2: The Caged Bird Sings.” In between those releases he has released several unofficial mixtapes which can be found at sites like Datpiff and LiveMixtapes.
A aesthetic blend of house, EDM tracks from upbeat to down-tempo, spanning several artists in a continuous DJ mix by LUMINUS. I made this mix earlier last night. DL is available on Soundcloud.
KiD CuDi released Satellite Flight: Journey to Mother Moon with few hours notice on Twitter and exclusively on iTunes.
The album features many of the dark, space-like overtones and sounds Cudi is known for.
Following the Beyoncé marketing/distribution model Cudi released the album two months early, without any promotion and mainly just by informing his followers on Twitter the album was now available.
Standouts include the rock-influenced, WZRD reminiscent “Going to the Ceremony,” and the more spacey, deep tuneage of “Destination: Mother Moon”, “Satellite Flight,” and “In My Dreams 2015.”
“Copernicus Landing” also channels this spirit and the more beat-influenced ride through intergalactic soundscapes of “Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Know,” is what we have come to expect from the Moon Man.
The album is a good listen all the way through and reminds one of his last album Indicud with elements of the Man on the Moon albums and his WZRD project.
If this album release is successful, we are bound to see more artists “suddenly” releasing albums and more no-marketing, direct-to-fan approaches, which for Beyoncé worked incredibly well. Not good news for promotional agents, but great news for music artists and their fans alike.
ATLANTA – Snow and ice storms that struck Atlanta and the rest of Georgia, Tuesday, left motorists stranded, kids sleeping over at schools and hundreds of abandoned cars on expressways. The city was still recovering from the initial impact of the storm, which left 3 inches of snow over Atlanta’s metro area and suburbs, in a region largely unfamiliar with snow. Gov. Nathan Deal declared the Georgia in a state of emergency.
Mayor Kasim Reed also faced criticism for not warning people from going about their day Tuesday and letting kids attend school when meteorologist reports as early as 3 p.m. the day before the storm warned of snow and ice that would likely paralyze the city.
Several motorists left their vehicles abandoned on highways and neighborhood roads after getting stuck in patches of ice or losing control completely and not being able to navigate back onto the road. The Georgia Dept. of Transportation originally stated vehicles abandoned in the middle and sides of the freeway would be towed, but later changed its stance to vehicles would be towed out of traffic lanes for later pickup. Stranded vehicles will not face tickets and the numerous vehicles involved in accidents are being asked to remember notes about the incident and take a number from their corresponding agency to be resolved later. Georgia Fire, Emergency and 911 services were inundated with never before seen amounts of distress calls causing cell towers and communications lines to buckle under heavy traffic Tuesday evening.
Roads were still icy, but somewhat more manageable Wednesday but expressways and through-roads still had dangerous spots of black ice. Many businesses, stores and agencies closed or operated short hours of business.
GDOT is asking people in the state to stay home and only use the roads in emergencies. As of Wednesday night, most of the expressway roads and neighborhood surface streets had been treated with salt, gravel or a mixture of the two allowing at least somewhat stable lanes of travel, often down to just one or two.
EDITOR’s NOTE: Everyone in the Atlanta area please be cautions during the winter storm. Be safe and smart when driving on the roads or in the event of picking up your vehicles from stranded locations.

Ke$ha and Pitbull have taken their hit single, “Timber” to the top of the Hot 100 charts, according to Billboard. This marks the second single for Pitbull to top No. 1 charts and the third for Ke$ha. Pitbull previously held the top spot with “Give Me Everything” feat. Ne-Yo Afrojack and Nayer in early July 2011, while Kesha’s “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R” topped the chart for several consecutive weeks in 2010. The song is currently at No. 2 on the iTunes Top 100 just behind Katy Perry and Juicy J.’s “Dark Horse.”
“Timber” combines Ke$ha’s catchy hooks and Pitbull’s usual ahem…”style” of rapping over blues harmonica melodies to a dance beat. The result is far more pleasing to the ear and while I have never been a fan of Pitbull lyrically his effort on this song seems much more, organic. Ke$ha only further saves this song with a hook only she could pull off. All this song needs now is a couple of good EDM remixes!
