Rapper Floss B has been making waves as his latest single “Ain’t Even Do It” continues to enjoy airplay on Atlanta radio stations such as Streetz 94.5 FM. The single evokes elements of trap and street music much along the same lines as Travis Scott, Jeezy or Young Thug. The heavy bassline rides throughout the song over trappy 808-snares, blending well with the repeated hook “I ain’t even do it.” Check out the stream of his new song above (compliments of DJ Holiday’s “Holiday Season” blog).

Alabama-born rapper Floss B, Brian Verner, has lived in Atlanta for over a decade and says he’s hoping to shake things up a bit as he becomes further involved in the music industry.

“I’m trying to bring good quality music back to the game,” said Floss. When asked what are his next plans for his music, Floss responded, “I am really just very thankful to have my song being played on Streetz 94.5 and receiving a lot of support from DJ Holiday.”

“I just want to see how this song does then I’ll go from there” he added.

[Festival Dance / Big Room:] Kaskade & CID – Us // [Dancehall // Jersey Bounce:] Ayo Jay feat. Fetty Wap – Your Number (Mvntana Remix)

We’ve got two smash singles for you to check out today. New festival EDM from Kaskade and Jersey House from Mvntana.

Festival Style Dance / Future Big Room
Kaskade & CID – Us

“Us” Official Music Video

We are the start of something new

And they don’t need to know about you,
’bout me, ’bout us,
‘Bout you, ’bout me, ’bout us

Just in time for the warmer weather, perfect for Spring and Summer EDM fests, one of my favorite house producers, Kaskade, has released a music video for his single “Us” made in collaboration with CID. The music video follows a family in the Philippines throughout their day, taking an observational look at universal, albeit basic human interactions and emotions.

The song definitely channels massive energy with its minimalistic build-up into a bass-blasting ride through heavy synth waves and chords. “Us” is sure to be a club and festival favorite and it is great to see Kaskade still coming out with material all-the-while changing up his musical styles, and doing so successfully. This song will hopefully be one of many future Big-Room hits to come.

Dancehall / Jersey House
Ayo Jay feat. Fetty Wap – Your Number (Mvtana & Lil E Remix)

Melvitto on the beat
Just wanna tell you a story ’bout dis girl wey I just meet
She looking fly, yeah she lookin’neat
Ya boy looking like money, right from my head down to my feet but,

She dey smile at mi,
I dun really know what it mean…

This song has been in heavy rotation the past week or so on all my music-enabled devices. Producer Mvntana‘s massive remix of Ayo Jay’s “Your Number.” Transforming the floor-filling dancehall number, featuring Fetty Wap, the remix combines the original’s dancehall and reggae vibes and melds it with bass-bumping Jersey House.

The result is an insanely catchy high-energy dance track doing the hot 2013 single justice, well worth checking out. You can listen to the original and watch its music video below the remix above. Learn more about the artists below:

[Mellow Hip-Hop Beats:] KA-YU – Flowers

Next up is a very interesting instrumental track coming from beat producer KA-YU, “Flowers” is a calming joyride through hip-hop, latin flavored tropical beats and sounds. The result is a very chill track great for meditating or getting work done or to simply drift off into for some moments.

[Sophisticated Beats:] J-Mac – Morning Sunshine

Producer J-Mac’s most recent track “Morning Sunshine” continues the chilled out vibe over smooth beats and vocals from our first post. Perfect for relaxing with a book in the sunlight, a picnic at a local park, or as the soundtrack to a posh art gallery, “Morning Sunshine” is calming, uplifting, jazzy and just downright sophisticated.

Dutch producers Ka-Yu & J-Mac’s sounds’ are very reminiscent of Nujabes, D’jango (some have said in comments), a little Dilla, or really any other insanely good beat producers. Take some time to mellow out to this beat and check out more from KA-YU and J-Mac below. Both artists hail from the Art in Melodies Collective group of DJs and producers.

[EDM Origins/Throwbacks] (Ambient EDM / Deep House) Gui Boratto – No Turning Back // [Future Chill House] Cyril Hahn – Last (feat. John Ford)

We’re highlighting two epic ambient/chill house tracks from two great artists in the house music scene, Gui Boratto and Cyril Hahn/

EDM Origins: Chill EDM
We’re highlighting two great downtempo cuts that truly exemplify the ambient chill electronic scene. Seen as the opposite spectrum of  high energy, bass heavy trap anthems, ambient and deep house genres tend to reflect and invoke softer, more calming images. Ones of tiny rooftop dance floors near the beach in coastal towns. A recovery set, or maybe the whole set at an Ibiza lounge or anywhere EDM “old-heads” frequent. I hope you enjoy and are able to mellow out for a few momentsto these two great songs.

[Deep Future House] Cyril Hahn – Last (feat. John Ford)

When I look into your eyes…

[Deep House / Ambient Chill EDM]

Gui Boratto’s “No Turning Back”

Take a chance in those wonderful words you just don’t understand.
I can show you the way,
but I know that you’ll never be there.

It’s rare that when a song starts up on my 8000+ iPod library that it gives me goosesbumps (I[m in the long process of putting all said songs into a playlist when I re-stumble across them) but that is exactly what happens when I listen to Swiss DJ Cyril Hahn’s “Last” featuring John Ford.

Channeling elements of deep house waves, retro future vocals and dreamy soundscapes “Last” is probably one of the greatest songs I have heard in several years for this genre of EDM. I have previously blogged about this song which you can read about here:

Brazilian DJ Gui Boratto is a well known name in the house music circuit. With music featured in movies and video games alike; his many remixes and original songs share an authentic quality of atmospheric deep layer of sound. These are elements of EDM that characterized the house and trance music scene throughout the early 2000s to the early 2010s.

Though a bit different sonically in nature, Genre themed podcasts and radio series like Armin Van Buuren’s “A State of Trance” capitalize on this brand of dance music. One that goes beyond hip snares and samples of current rappers over bass heavy beats, but to European EDM at its finest (and of the similar songs produced out of America and elsewhere). Enjoy the classic “No Turning Back”
